The 1%’s “leaders” allow a million children to die every month from preventable poverty

Despite the investment to save a million children’s lives from preventable poverty being just 0.7% of our gross national income, despite that every historical case of ending poverty reduces population growth rates, and despite US promises to make that investment at global summits, the 1% “leadership” in government and corporate media renege on all promises and allow this crushing torture, these excruciating and prolonged death spirals of children.
Since the 1%’s reneged promises from just 1996, the total deaths from
preventable poverty is conservatively greater than from all wars,
revolutions, murders, accidents, and suicides in the 20th century.* In the past 20 years, and since the 1990 World Summit for Children where
the promise to end poverty was again sincerely pledged, total deaths
from poverty eclipse all the above categories of death in all known
human history.**
The leverage point to remove the 1% is for those of
us among the 99% with arrest authority to exercise it for “emperor has
no clothes” obvious War Crimes, torture, murder of state residents as US
soldiers who were lied-into criminal wars, and massive economic fraud
in the trillions of our dollars every year.
As an academic in government, history and economics, here are my
strongest resources to explain, document, and prove the “emperor has no
clothes” obvious CRIMES. This is the best contribution I have at the

This week Congress is expected to vote on a bill advanced by John
McCain and Carl Levin, a Republican and Democrat who united to bring us
the foundation needed to propel us fully into a militarized nightmare
state similar to what we have been exporting these last few years. It is

From this notion springs the advancement of military tribunals dealing with all citizens of the globe (once again, Americans included) without the bother of transparency. Detention and disappearance could be the order of the day.
The secretive nature and broad sweeps have already been used on those they deem foreign enemy combatants around the world. As if by fascist playbook, this sort of thing is trial ballooned on “the other” and then brought home for the enjoyment of those who didn’t complain the first time around.

This is while the Saudi and Bahraini regimes themselves kill and terrorize their own unarmed citizens who are protesting in the streets of Saudi Arabia and Bahrain for fair treatment, basic rights, equality, and freedom.
The GCC has forced the Arab League to support the de-legitimization of the Libyan government and the war against Libya in the form of sanctions and no-fly zones. Now it wants to impose political and economic sanctions on Syria and to cause the country to internally implode, while it tries to fashion an Arab League mandated no-fly zone as a counter-movie to the Chinese and Russian vetoes at the U.N. Security Council. The U.S., Britain, France, and Turkey are also preparing to help it in this regard.
Bankers have seized Europe: Goldman Sachs Has Taken Over
On
November 25, two days after a failed German government bond auction in
which Germany was unable to sell 35% of its offerings of 10-year bonds,
the German finance minister, Wolfgang Schaeuble said that Germany might
retreat from its demands that the private banks that hold the troubled
sovereign debt from Greece, Italy, and Spain must accept part of the
cost of their bailout by writing off some of the debt. The private banks
want to avoid any losses either by forcing the Greek, Italian, and
Spanish governments to make good on the bonds by imposing extreme
austerity on their citizens, or by having the European Central Bank
print euros with which to buy the sovereign debt from the private banks.
Printing money to make good on debt is contrary to the ECB’s charter
and especially frightens Germans, because of the Weimar experience with
hyperinflation.
Obviously,
the German government got the message from the orchestrated failed bond
auction. As I wrote at the time, there is no reason for Germany, with
its relatively low debt to GDP ratio compared to the troubled countries,
not to be able to sell its bonds.
If
Germany’s creditworthiness is in doubt, how can Germany be expected to
bail out other countries? Evidence that Germany’s failed bond auction
was orchestrated is provided by troubled Italy’s successful bond auction
two days later.
Strange, isn’t it. Italy, the largest EU country that requires a bailout of its debt, can still sell its bonds, but Germany, which requires no bailout and which is expected to bear a disproportionate cost of Italy’s, Greece’s and Spain’s bailout, could not sell its bonds.
In
my opinion, the failed German bond auction was orchestrated by the US
Treasury, by the European Central Bank and EU authorities, and by the
private banks that own the troubled sovereign debt.
My
opinion is based on the following facts. Goldman Sachs and US banks
have guaranteed perhaps one trillion dollars or more of European
sovereign debt by selling swaps or insurance against which they have not
reserved. The fees the US banks received for guaranteeing the values of
European sovereign debt instruments simply went into profits and
executive bonuses. This, of course, is what ruined the American
insurance giant, AIG, leading to the TARP bailout at US taxpayer expense
and Goldman Sachs’ enormous profits.
Two million join 'historic' strike
A strike by up to two million public sector
workers was hailed as "historic" today - closing schools, courts,
museums and jobcentres, and disrupting transport, hospitals and
Government departments.
Unions reported huge support for the 24-hour walkout in
the bitter row over pensions, but warnings of massive delays at Heathrow
airport failed to materialise, with passengers saying border controls
were "better than usual".
Union officials accused the
Government of "ramping up" possible airport disruption and claimed that
"under-trained" staff had been drafted in to cover striking immigration
and passport workers.
"Some of those on duty today
don't have proper security clearance. They are not qualified to do the
job properly, which is a concern. We will take this up after the
strike ends," said an official from the Public and Commercial Services
(PCS) union.
The PCS said reports from picket lines
showed a "huge" turnout for the strike, with up to 90% of staff in some
Government departments, including Revenue and Customs, taking action.
General
secretary Mark Serwotka said: "I have been to pickets around central
London and spirits are sky-high, with many other unions besides PCS out
on strike.
"People should be very proud of the stand
they are making today, in contrast to the shame of the Government.
Public sector workers have come together today to show their united
opposition to the Government's prolonged and concerted attacks on their
pensions, jobs and communities."

Prepare for Riots in Euro Collapse, Foreign Office Warns

have been told to draw up plans to help British expats through the
collapse of the single currency, amid new fears for Italy and Spain.
As the Italian government struggled to borrow and Spain considered
seeking an international bail-out, British ministers privately warned
that the break-up of the euro, once almost unthinkable, is now
increasingly plausible.
Diplomats are preparing to help Britons abroad through a banking collapse and even riots arising from the debt crisis.
The Treasury confirmed earlier this month that contingency planning for a collapse is now under way.
A senior minister has now revealed the extent of the Government’s concern, saying that Britain is now planning on the basis that a euro collapse is now just a matter of time.
“It’s in our interests that they keep playing for time because that gives us more time to prepare,” the minister told the Daily Telegraph.
Recent Foreign and Commonwealth Office instructions to embassies and consulates request contingency planning for extreme scenarios including rioting and social unrest.
Greece has seen several outbreaks of civil disorder as its government struggles with its huge debts. British officials think similar scenes cannot be ruled out in other nations if the euro collapses.
Diplomats have also been told to prepare to help tens of thousands of British citizens in eurozone countries with the consequences of a financial collapse that would leave them unable to access bank accounts or even withdraw cash.
Fuelling the fears of financial markets for the euro, reports in Madrid yesterday suggested that the new Popular Party government could seek a bail-out from either the European Union rescue fund or the International Monetary Fund.
There are also growing fears for Italy, whose new government was forced to pay record interest rates on new bonds issued yesterday.
The yield on new six-month loans was 6.5 per cent, nearly double last month’s rate. And the yield on outstanding two-year loans was 7.8 per cent, well above the level considered unsustainable.
Italy’s new government will have to sell more than EURO 30 billion of new bonds by the end of January to refinance its debts. Analysts say there is no guarantee that investors will buy all of those bonds, which could force Italy to default.
The Italian government yesterday said that in talks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Nicolas Sarkozy, Prime Minister Mario Monti had agreed that an Italian collapse “would inevitably be the end of the euro.”
The EU treaties that created the euro and set its membership rules contain no provision for members to leave, meaning any break-up would be disorderly and potentially chaotic.
If eurozone governments defaulted on their debts, the European banks that hold many of their bonds would risk collapse.
Some analysts say the shock waves of such an event would risk the collapse of the entire financial system, leaving banks unable to return money to retail depositors and destroying companies dependent on bank credit.
The Financial Services Authority this week issued a public warning to British banks to bolster their contingency plans for the break-up of the single currency.
Some economists believe that at worst, the outright collapse of the euro could reduce GDP in its member-states by up to half and trigger mass unemployment.
Analysts at UBS, an investment bank earlier this year warned that the most extreme consequences of a break-up include risks to basic property rights and the threat of civil disorder.
“When the unemployment consequences are factored in, it is virtually impossible to consider a break-up scenario without some serious social consequences,” UBS said.

Convicted RFK assassin Sirhan Sirhan seeks prison release
Sirhan Sirhan is taken into custody after the
fatal shooting of Sen. Robert F. Kennedy in 1968
Sirhan Sirhan, convicted of the 1968 assassination of presidential
candidate Sen. Robert F. Kennedy, should be freed from prison or granted
a new trial based on "formidable evidence" asserting his innocence and
"horrendous violations" of his rights, defense attorneys said in federal
court papers filed this week.
In a U.S. District Court brief, Sirhan's lawyers also say that an expert analysis of recently uncovered evidence shows two guns were fired in the assassination and that Sirhan's revolver was not the gun that shot Kennedy.
Attorneys William F. Pepper and Laurie D. Dusek also allege that fraud was committed in Sirhan's 1969 trial when the court allowed a substitute bullet to be admitted as evidence for a real bullet removed from Kennedy's neck.
The attorneys further assert that Sirhan was hypno-programmed to be a diversion for the real assassin and allege that Sirhan would be easily blamed for the assassination because he is an Arab. Sirhan, 67, is a Christian Palestinian born in Jerusalem whose parents brought him and his siblings to America in the 1950s.
Sirhan "was an involuntary participant in the crimes being committed because he was subjected to sophisticated hypno programming and memory implantation techniques which rendered him unable to consciously control his thoughts and actions at the time the crimes were being committed," court papers said.
The California Attorney General's office declined to comment Saturday on Sirhan's court filings, said spokeswoman Lynda Gledhill.
Court papers filed by Sirhan's attorneys say the state "refuses to acknowledge that hypno programming/mind control is not fiction but reality and has been used for years by the U.S. military, Central Intelligence Agency and other covert organizations.
"Though the practices of hypno programming/mind control is hardly new, the public has been shielded from the darker side of the practice. The average person is unaware that hypnosis can and is used to induct antisocial conduct in humans," Sirhan's court filings say.
Pepper and Dusek represented Sirhan earlier this year in his unsuccessful request for parole from Pleasant Valley State Prison in Coalinga, California, 200 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles. He is serving a life sentence.

University of California microbiologist, discovered that wild corn in
remote parts of Mexico is contaminated with lab altered DNA. That

Chapela was denied tenure at UC Berkeley when he reported this to the
scientific community, despite the embarrassing discovery that UC
Chancellor Berdahl, who was denying him tenure, was getting large cash
payments – $40,000 per year – from the LAM Research Corp. in Plano,
Texas.
Berdahl served as president
of Texas A&M University before coming to Berkeley. During a
presentation about his case, Chapela revealed that a spermicidal corn
developed by a U.S. company is now being tested in Mexico. Males who
unknowingly eat the corn produce non-viable sperm and are unable to
reproduce.
Depopulation, also known as eugenics, is quite another thing and was proposed under the Nazis during World War
II. It is the deliberate killing off of large segments of living
populations and was proposed for Third World countries under President
Carter’s administration by the National Security Council’s Ad Hoc Group
on Population Policy.

Depopulation policy became the top priority under the NSC agenda, Club

Feds Seize 130+ Domain Names in Mass Crackdown

US authorities have initiated the largest round of domain name seizures yet as part of their continued crackdown on counterfeit and piracy-related websites.
With just a few days to go until “Cyber Monday” more than 100 domain names have been taken over by the feds to protect the commercial interests of US companies.
The seizures are disputable, as the SOPA bill which aims to specifically legitimize such actions is still pending in Congress.

Sanctions Against Iran are Definite Steps Toward a US Attack

Many people have the misconception that sanctions are an effective means to encourage a change of behavior in another country without war. However, imposing sanctions and blockades are not only an act of war according to international law, they are most often the first step toward a real war starting with a bombing campaign. Sanctions were the first step in our wars against Iraq and Libya, and now more sanctions planned against Syria and Iran are leading down the same destructive path.
According to the International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA) latest report, just out this month, there is no evidence that Iran has diverted enriched uranium from the peaceful and lawful generation of power toward building a nuclear weapon. According to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, Iran has every right to develop nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. Unfortunately, US foreign policy has boxed Iran into a corner where they may view development of a nuclear weapon as the only way to maintain sovereignty. They are surrounded by unfriendly nuclear powers and history has shown that having a nuclear weapon is the best way to avoid being bombed or invaded. The unintended consequences of our confrontational policies toward Iran may be to actually encourage them to seek nuclear weapons capabilities. We should be using diplomacy rather than threats and hostility.

Lobbying firm's memo spells out plan to undermine Occupy Wall Street

well-known Washington lobbying firm with links to the financial industry
has proposed an $850,000 plan to take on Occupy Wall Street and
politicians who might express sympathy for the protests, according to a
memo obtained by [MSNBC]. The proposal was written on the letterhead of
the lobbying firm Clark Lytle Geduldig & Cranford and addressed to
one of CLGC’s clients, the American Bankers Association. CLGC’s
memo proposes that the ABA pay CLGC $850,000 to conduct “opposition
research” on Occupy Wall Street in order to construct “negative
narratives” about the protests and allied politicians. Two of the memo’s
authors, partners Sam Geduldig and Jay Cranford, previously worked for
House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio.
The memo outlines a 60-day plan to conduct surveys and research on OWS
and its supporters so that Wall Street companies will be prepared to
conduct a media campaign in response to OWS. Wall Street companies
“likely will not be the best spokespeople for their own cause,”
according to the memo.
“A big challenge is to demonstrate that these companies still have
political strength and that making them a political target will carry a
severe political cost.”

Secret Bill To Be Voted On Today Would Allow The Military To Sweep Up US Citizens At Home Or Abroad
Either Monday or Tuesday the Senate will vote on a bill that allows the
US military to imprison civilians with no formal charges and hold them
with no trial.
The ACLU reports even US citizens wouldn't be immune as the legislation aims to declare national territory part of the "battlefield" in the War on Terror.
Termed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) and drafted behind closed doors by Senators Carl Levin (D-Mich.) and John McCain (R-Ariz.) the NDAA would:
1) Explicitly authorize the federal government to indefinitely imprison without charge or trial American citizens and others picked up inside and outside the United States;
2) Mandate military detention of some civilians who would otherwise be outside of military control, including civilians picked up within the United States itself; and
3) Transfer to the Department of Defense core prosecutorial, investigative, law enforcement, penal, and custodial authority and responsibility now held by the Department of Justice.

In support of this harmful bill, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) explained that the

In an effort to stop the bill, Sen. Mark Udall (D-Colo.) is floating the Udall Amendment, which according to the ACLU is:

any president decides to use the military. Instead of simply going
along with a bill that was drafted in secret and is being jammed through
the Senate, the Udall Amendment deletes the provisions and sets up an
orderly review of detention power. It tries to take the politics out and
put American values back in.
Fake forum comments are 'eroding' trust in the web
Trust in information on
the web is being damaged by the huge numbers of people paid by companies
to post comments online, say researchers.
Fake posters can "poison" debate and make people unsure about who they can trust, the study suggests.
Some firms have created tens of thousands of fake accounts to flood chat forums and skew debate.
The researchers say there are reliable ways to spot fakes and urge websites to do more to police users.
The researchers from Canada and China say paying people to
post comments is an "interesting strategy in business marketing" but it
is not a benign activity.
"Paid posters may create a significant negative effect on the
online communities, since the information from paid posters is usually
not trustworthy," they wrote.
Battles
In some cases, rival companies have used competing armies of
workers to wage comment wars that confused members of the public looking
for unbiased information.
The researchers say the fake comments can overwhelm some
users, causing them to find it hard to trust any information found
online.
They give the example of a spike in activity on a World of Warcraft chat forum on the Chinese website Baidu.
A thread titled "Junpeng Jia, your mother asked you to go
back home for dinner!" received over 300,000 replies over a two day
period.
A PR company later claimed it had employed 800 individuals to
run 20,000 separate accounts on the site to help maintain interest in
the videogame while it was down for maintenance.
Growing problem
While the practice of flooding forums with fake comments is
most widespread in China, where such posters are called the Internet
Water Army, it is becoming common in other nations too.
The US military is known to use fakes to infiltrate chat forums to gather information about potential terror groups.
Similarly many Facebook pages are plagued by bogus friends and "social bots" that are used to stage debates.
Many marketing firms also seed forums with comments in a bid to create "viral" interest in a company or event.
However, fakes can be spotted by analysing their patterns of activity and the words they use, say the researchers.
Fakes are more likely to start new comment threads, make
inane comments rather than add to a debate, and repeat former comments
with minor changes, the study suggests.
The researchers say they are refining software tools to help website administrators tackle the "painful" problem.

Wolfgang Schauble, the German finance minister, said yesterday he was confident that the euro would be saved – and go on to become the most stable currency in the world.

Fallujah Remembered by a US Marine who Helped Destroy it in 2004
It
has been seven years since the 2nd siege of Fallujah -- the American
assault that left the city in ruins, killed thousands of civilians, and
displaced hundreds-of-thousands more -- the assault that poisoned a
generation, plaguing the people who live there with cancers and their
children with birth defects.
It has been seven years and the lies that justified the assault still perpetuate false beliefs about what we did.
The American veterans who fought there still do not understand who they fought against, or what they were fighting for.
I know, because I am one of those American veterans.
In the eyes of many of the people I "served" with, the people of
Fallujah remain dehumanized and their resistance fighters are still
believed to be terrorists. But unlike most of my counterparts, I
understand that I was the aggressor, and that the resistance fighters
in Fallujah were defending their city.
It is also the seventh anniversary of the deaths of two close friends
of mine, Travis Desiato and Bradly Faircloth, who were killed in the
siege. Their deaths were not heroic or glorious. Their deaths were
tragic, but not unjust.
How can I begrudge the resistance in Fallujah for killing my friends,
when I know that I would have done the same thing if I were in their
place? How can I blame them when we were the aggressors?
It could have been me instead of Travis or Brad. I carried a radio on
my back that dropped the bombs that killed civilians and reduced
Fallujah to rubble. If I were a Fallujan, I would have killed anyone
like me. I would have had no choice. The fate of my city and my family
would have depended on it. I would have killed the foreign invaders.
Travis and Brad are both victims and perpetrators. They were killed
and they killed others because of a political agenda in which they were
just pawns. They were the iron fist of American empire, and an
expendable loss in the eyes of their leaders.
I do not see any contradiction in feeling sympathy for the dead
American Marines and soldiers and at the same time feeling sympathy for
the Fallujans who fell to their guns.
The contradiction lies in
believing that we were liberators, when in fact we oppressed the
freedoms and wishes of Fallujahs. The contradiction lies in believing
that we were heroes, when the definition of "hero" bares no relation to
our actions in Fallujah.
What we did to Fallujah cannot be undone, and I see no point in
attacking the people in my former unit. What I want to attack are the
lies and false beliefs. I want to destroy the prejudices that prevented
us from putting ourselves in the other's shoes and asking ourselves
what we would have done if a foreign army invaded our country and laid
siege to our city.
I understand the psychology that causes the aggressors to blame their
victims. I understand the justifications and defense mechanisms. I
understand the emotional urge to want to hate the people who killed
someone dear to you. But to describe the psychology that preserves such
false beliefs is not to ignore the objective moral truth that no
attacker can ever justly blame their victims for defending themselves.
The same distorted morality has been used to justify attacks against
the Native Americans, the Vietnamese, El Salvadorans, and the Afghans.
It is the same story over and over again. These peoples have been
dehumanized, their God-given right to self-defense has been
delegitimized, their resistance has been reframed as terrorism, and
American soldiers have been sent to kill them.
History has preserved these lies, normalized them, and socialized
them into our culture; so much so that legitimate resistance against
American aggression is incomprehensible to most, and to even raise this
question is seen as un-American.
History has defined the American veteran as a hero, and in doing so
it has automatically defined anyone who fights against him as the
bad-guy. It has reversed the roles of aggressor and defender, moralized
the immoral, and it has shaped our societies present understanding of
war.
I cannot imagine a more necessary step towards justice than to put an
end to these lies, and achieve some moral clarity on this issue. I see
no issue more important than to clearly understand the difference
between aggression and self-defense, and to support legitimate
struggles. I cannot hate, blame, begrudge, or resent Fallujans for
fighting back against us. I am sincerely sorry for the role I played in
the 2nd siege of Fallujah, and I hope that someday not just Fallujans
but all Iraqis will win their struggle.
