Comment: Found this comment on Naomi Wolf's website which I thought was worth re-posting because it succinctly describes what is going in the Ukraine and the Republic of Crimea and why it is simply business as usual for cartel capitalism. It's for this reason no one is going to war.

Comment from naomiwolf.org: “What’s happening in Ukraine – Just thoughts. NOT an assertion or a claim of any kind.”
Admittedly, the average American is not familiar with U.S. foreign policy, trade policy, international banking, nor the nuances of global leaders and their particular sets of political circumstances.
Frankly, most of us only know what we are spoon fed in a steady diet of sound bytes crafted by the government controlled media. So, it is unsurprising when most Americans just hear there is a boogie man in Russia, the bad guys, and we Americans, the good guys, come to the rescue for freedom, Mom, Apple pie and baseball.
If you read this far, you are curious to know more because you may realize intuitively that we are not being told what is really happening.
I know what’s going on, because it is my business to know. I’ll break it down like this.
International Monetary Fund [IMF] makes loans to the European Union. Bankers loaned them money they can’t pay back. The EU members are all in a mess. Greece, Portugal, Italy, France, Belgium, they’re broke. They need new members with labor and natural resources to under-write those loans, among other things.
Ukraine has a juicy debt of $30 billion, productive labor force, strong trading partners in Russia and a very attractive commodity in the natural gas pipeline coming in from Russia, that the EU wants.
The Ukrainian President was lured to hand over his country to the EU and ‘integrate’ their resources into it and absorb their trading power. The U.S. funneled money into destabilizing the Ukrainian economy to push them into the E.U.
These are the thugs creating street violence and policy of chaos that mirrors the U.S./E.U. finger prints doing the same thing to north Africa, Libya, Tunisia, Egypt, Syria for their resources and IMF customer base.
Turns out, the Ukrainian working class and business owners know what happened to the Baltic states that fell into the E.U. hands and destroyed them. Ukrainian’s supply chain and trade are with Russian businesses. They’re making money and jobs and reject the E.U. offer.
So, President Putin offers the Ukrainian government a trade deal. He gives them a check for $15 billion and cuts their natural gas cost by 50% and allows them to re-sell it to the E.U. at a profit. Soon, they would be on their feet, maintain their sovereignty, and open up better trade with the E.U. and Russia.
Then the U.S., E.U., IMF, Ukraine and Russia get caught up in a tug of war over a business deal.
Obama’s nuance is petulance. The policy of chaos is one that spins out of control as we have seen across North Africa for instance. This time it is vilifying Russians and Ukrainians who were making a pure capitalist business deal the E.U. and their bankers could not abide.
Now, we are watching our government controlled media beating the drums of war. It is unwise to instigate a war with a nuclear armed nation that was doing nothing more than a business deal.
