A Vox report that swiftly sparked alarm across the internet Friday outlined how, "in the era of neurocapitalism, your brain needs new rights," following recent revelations that Facebook and Elon Musk's Neuralink are developing technologies to read people's minds.

As Vox's Sigal Samuel reported:

Mark Zuckerberg's company is funding research on brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) that can pick up thoughts directly from your neurons and translate them into words. The researchers say they've already built an algorithm that can decode words from brain activity in real time.

And Musk's company has created flexible "threads" that can be implanted into a brain and could one day allow you to control your smartphone or computer with just your thoughts. Musk wants to start testing in humans by the end of next year.

Considering those and other companies' advances and ambitions, Samuel warned that "your brain, the final privacy frontier, may not be private much longer" and laid out how existing laws are not equipped to handle how these emerging technologies could "interfere with rights that are so basic that we may not even think of them as rights, like our ability to determine where our selves end and machines begin."

There are disturbing similarities between the shootings in El Paso, Pittsburgh, and San Diego. If news reports can be believed, John Earnest, the synagogue shooter in California, had it out for Jews, as did Robert G. Bowers in Pittsburgh. Both posted so-called manifestos online. So did Patrick Crusius, the alleged El Paso shooter, the difference being his manifesto denounced Mexicans.

The alleged shooter in New Zealand, Brenton Tarrant, posted a manifesto denouncing Muslims. Dylann Roof, who allegedly killed nine people at a black church in South Carolina, also issued what the corporate media described as a manifesto. Tarrant is said to have left behind a 74-page document titled “The Great Replacement.”

All these documents preach a similar form of racism described as white supremacy by the state and its corporate media. This racism is attributed to the so-called Alt-right or the New Right without evidence or even a clear definition of terms. It is also used to describe those of us who are not politically pigeonholed as right or left and yet are suspect for our critique of the financial class and its banking cartels and interlocked corporate structure. This is described by the state and its media as antisemitic, thus a hate crime.

Timing is everything, Several days before the incident in El Paso, FBI Director Christopher Wray told the Senate Judiciary Committee a “majority of the domestic terrorism cases we’ve investigated are motivated by some version of what you might call white supremacist violence.”

This was followed by Democrat presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren who declared white supremacy as a domestic terror threat. “We need to call out white supremacy for what it is: domestic terrorism. And it poses a threat to the United States of America,” she said during the supposed debate in Detroit last week.

Then, on August 1, two days before the El Paso incident, it was reported the FBI “for the first time has identified fringe conspiracy theories as a domestic terrorist threat, according to a previously unpublicized document.

Miley Cyrus is what I call a “barometer artist”. That’s because her act invariably mirrors whatever agenda needs to be pushed by mass media at that particular moment. Indeed, Miley never had her own sound, her own image or her own message. Her entire act was always dictated by her handlers ever since she was a child playing the role of Hannah Montana.

Appropriately enough, Miley recently appeared in an episode of Black Mirror where she played the role of a mind-controlled pop star who has absolutely no control over her career and her message. While her character (named Ashley O) keeps talking about “empowerment” to her fans, she’s actually a heavily medicated slave who does as she’s told by her handlers.

Only a few weeks after the release of that Black Mirror episode, Miley Cyrus unleashes upon the world Mother’s Daughter – an NSFW music video loaded with a bunch of calculated messages aimed a young people. Indeed, the video is essentially an infomercial sponsored by powerful groups, lobbies, and think tanks to propagate specific social messages.

Was Thomas Mair Wrongly Convicted?

The British state convicted Thomas Mair of the murder of Labour MP Jo Cox at The Old Bailey on 23/11/2016. At the time, many people were uneasy both about the way the case had been handled and the apparent contradictions and gaps in the evidence. However, recent research by the independent investigative journalist and film maker Richard D Hall has cast much firmer doubt upon the safety of Thomas Mair’s conviction.

Halls film ‘Exit from Bexit: The Jo Cox Departure,’ takes a dispassionate look at the evidence offered by the state to put Thomas Mair behind bars. I recommend that all who care about justice watch his film and consider his arguments.

His work has been met, unsurprisingly, by allegations that he is a supporter of the ‘far right.’ Anyone familiar with Hall’s longstanding commitment to evidence based investigations will know how silly this unsubstantiated slur is. For those who have yet to visit his website or watch his channels, I suggest you do before you believe this preposterous allegation.

Once you’ve considered Hall’s film, and additional evidence offered here, you might ask the same about the ‘far right’ claims heaped upon Thomas Mair.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with debating or questioning the evidence he offers. Hall himself always reminds his viewers to “believe none of what you hear and only half of what you see.” He consistently advocates critical thinking and encourages questioning. So please watch his film and read this post with a critical eye.

Another Amazing Coincidence: Man Trained to Mass Murder Commits Mass Murder

The suspect in today’s mass shooting (well, the biggest one I’ve heard of thus far this morning; the day is young) is a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.

Another mass shooter in Florida last week just happens to have been in the military.

The man who killed with a van in Toronto this year had been briefly in the Canadian military and promoted his crime on Facebook beforehand as a military operation.

The mass-killing in a Florida High School earlier this year was also promoted by the killer as a military operation, in the sense that he wore his JROTC (Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps) shirt and killed in the same school where the U.S. Army had trained him to shoot and instructed him in war-supporting views of the world and its history.

Obviously having been a member of the U.S. military can’t have any causal connection to mass shootings, and that’s why it makes the most amazing coincidence over and over again that so many individuals who’ve been trained to kill lots of people bizarrely end up killing lots of people.

Looking at a long list of mass shootings in the United States, almost all of the shooters are men, and almost all of them are between ages 18 and 59. Above age 59, the percentage of men in the general U.S. population who are veterans leaps up dramatically. Between 18 and 59 — by averaging the percentages for each age year — about 14.76 percent of U.S. men are veterans, but at least 35% of these shooters were veterans. I determined that by quickly reading available news reports online about each shooting, so the percentage is likely to be significantly higher. I found no news reports that stated that any of the shooters had not been in the military.

In a Facebook post on July 18, David Voigts, who is currently in Seymour, Indiana, wrote: 

“This is why I’m walking across the country with a huge sign on my back. The US has developed a human-machine interface weapon that spoofs the nervous system. It is being misused to torture American citizens. This shooting in Baton Rouge is one of the outcomes.”

Gavin Long, who adopted the name Cosmo Setepenra, and wrote books on self-improvement, was the young 29-year-old ex-Marine and Iraq war veteran reportedly killed by police in Baton Rouge after he reportedly shot at six police officers, killing three and wounding the others, following the recent reported deaths of Alton Sterling and Philandro Castile at the hands of police.

News reports on investigations into his background as well as recordings of talk show interviews reveal that he had mentioned being targeted and was a member of Freedom from Covert Harassment and Surveillance, a group advocating for those being covertly targeted, assaulted, non-consensually experimented on, and hyper-surveilled in a variety of ways in their communities, including with experimental military directed-energy weapons, biometric and physical surveillance devices, synthetic telepathy, and remote bio-hacking neuroweapons.

It may have been Descartes who first asked how we can trust that the world actually exists and that we’re not just being deceived by some evil genius. But it was writer Andrew Niccol who answered that question, in 1998’s The Truman Show: We don’t. And worse yet, that evil genius could work in television.

“We accept the reality of the world with which we are presented,” explains Christof (Ed Harris), the director of the show-within-the-movie of The Truman Show. Two decades since Jim Carrey’s dramatic turn playing the oblivious main character in a reality show fabricated around his life, The Truman Show continues to act as a digital-age Nostradamus. Critics described the film like a big-budget episode of The Twilight Zone when it premiered 20 years ago this week, but Truman garnered acclaim for the thoughtful way it broached unsexy topics like metaphysics, Christianity, utopia, artificial reality, and the power of mass media. The film even gave rise to an informal medical syndrome: the Truman Show delusion, the sufferers of which believe their lives are staged shows or that they’re being watched on camera.

Tim Burton, Brian De Palma, Terry Gilliam, Barry Sonnenfeld, and Steven Spielberg were all originally considered as directors (Niccol was viewed as too green at the time), but it was Peter Weir who won the job, due in no small part to having found success nearly ten years prior with Dead Poets Society, another movie that cast a comedic actor (Robin Williams) in a serious role.

Niccol would ultimately create close to 30 drafts and rewrites of the script, while Weir scouted locations, oversaw the design of Truman’s world (Norman Rockwell and mid-century Sears, Roebuck catalogues played a big inspiration), and waited a year for Jim Carrey to finish work on The Cable Guy and Liar Liar. Instead of shooting on sound stages at Universal, Weir’s wife suggested the master-planned resort community of Seaside, Florida, with a pastel and picturesque look that lent itself to sitcoms of the 1950s.

In 2018, The Truman Show still feels as authentic as ever — probably even more so now than when it debuted, considering the subsequent rise of reality TV, social media, artificial reality, and “fake news.” How accurately has this movie predicted the future? Let us count the ways.

Doctor For Billionaire Sex Slave Ring NXIVM, Charged for Conducting Horrific Human Experiments

New York, NY – Dr. Brandon Porter, a physician described as the resident doctor to the NXIVM sex trafficking cult, has been charged with conducting illegal human experiments by the New York medical oversight board.

The decision by the New York Department of Health comes after they initially refused to act on a complaint from former cult member Jennifer Kobelt, who claimed that she was forced to watch graphic dismemberment and rape videos as part of an alleged “fright study” Porter was conducting.

Kobelt, in her August 2017 complaint, alleged that Porter may have conducted his “fright study” on as many as 100 people.

“He continued to film my reaction for at least 10 minutes as I just sat there, dry heaving like I was going to puke and crying very hard,” Kobelt said in her complaint to the Health Department, adding that Porter began showing her the violent images without warning, according to a report from the New York Post.

“He failed me, not only as a friend but as the medical practitioner I had trusted on numerous occasions with my health while I was in New York,” Kobelt said in the complaint.

Amazingly, in a Sept. 6, 2017, letter to Koblet, the state Office of Professional Medical Conduct (OPMC) explained that they would not investigate Porter, specifying that “the issues you have described are not medical misconduct.”

Apparently, now that the public spotlight is on the NXIVM cult, the OMPC has changed its tune, as the New York Post reports that Porter is now accused of moral unfitness, gross negligence and gross incompetence among other charges.

Porter is accused of showing “human subjects an actual video of the horrific and brutal murders and dismemberment of four women by machetes; and violent film clips, including a male African American being viciously stomped by a Nazi; a conscious male being forced to eat a portion of his own brain matter; and a graphic gang rape.”

Additionally, the doctor faces charges of violating state law by improperly conducting studies on Tourette’s syndrome, obsessive-compulsive disorder and brain wave monitoring of NXIVM program attendees without their permission.

The US military has begun testing AI brain implants that can change a person’s mood on humans. 

These ‘mind control’ chips emit electronic pulses that alter brain chemistry in a process called ‘deep brain stimulation.’

If they prove successful, the devices could be used to treat a number of mental health conditions and to ensure a better response to therapy.

The chips are the work of scientists at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), a branch of the US Department of Defense which develops new technologies for the military.

Researchers from the University of California (UC) and Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) designed them to use artificial intelligence algorithms that detect patterns of activity associated with mood disorders.

Billionaire pays for research into 'neural recording', a creepy-sounding technique which could change the lives of people suffering serious illnesses

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg is funding the development of technology with the potential to read humans' minds.

The billionaire has just pledged to hand over £40 million to researchers working to combat deadly diseases.

This cash will be distributed by the Chan Zuckerberg Biohub, an organisation which aims to "enable doctors to cure, prevent or manage all diseases during our children's lifetime".

Some of the projects are likely to ring alarm bells among paranoid people who fear technological progress will come at the expense of human freedom.

One of the researchers who will receive funding is Dr. Rikky Muller, CEO and founder of a firm called Cortera.

She is working to develop "clinically viable and minimally invasive neural interfaces" designed to be used by people suffering severe disabilities.

Brain-computer Interfaces (BCIs) are widely used in the medical field and other industries, including marketing, gaming and entertainment.

Although this technology was initially created to improve and enhance the quality of human lives, in the wrong hands it will wreak havoc on them.

Researchers at the University of Washington say that time is running out and officials need to employ a privacy and security framework to stop those who would use our own brains against us, reports Motherboard.

'There's actually very little time,' electrical engineer Howard Chizeck told Victoria Turk with Motherboard over Skype.

'If we don't address this quickly, it'll be too late.'

Over one-third of Americans would not only accept a microchip implant in their brain, but would be "enthusiastic" about the receiving the device to 'enhance their thinking power.'

Once the subject of dystopian science fiction novels, three emerging technologies served as a focal point for a new survey to glean the public's willingness to accept what many would call exceedingly invasive biomedical 'enhancements.'

Pew Research Center surveyed 4,726 adults — 47 of whom additionally agreed to participate in focus groups — to discern not only how well putative biomedical advancements might be received, but where the public stands on inherent ethical and moral questions arising from their use.

Given previous trepidations and warnings from government whistleblowers such technology could easily be employed for less than benevolent purposes, results proved a startling level of both acceptance and eagerness.

Keep in mind, every one of these technologies, while not yet widely available for elective use, are actively being developed — and though the majority of those surveyed expressed reservations for their use in otherwise healthy people, a significant number essentially said, 'sign me up.'

Though 69 percent of respondents claimed they would be "worried" about an implant — known as a neuroprosthesis — to improve cognitive abilities, fully 34 percent said they were "enthusiastic" about the idea. Largely divided along religious lines, many felt such invasive technology to improve the ability to think and process information would cross the line of "meddling" too much with nature.

But of the three biomedical 'improvements' in question, a microchip brain implant was perhaps the least Orwellian — as well as the least accepted.

Does it not seem as though events are starting to accelerate significantly?  Since I warned that something “had shifted” and that things had “suddenly become more serious“, we have seen the worst mass shooting in U.S. historyin Orlando, we have seen the massacre of five police officers in Dallas, we have seen the horrifying terror rampage in Nice, and now we have seen the brutal murder of three police officers in Baton Rouge.

On Sunday morning, the peace and quiet in Baton Rouge were shattered when “dozens of shots” erupted less than one mile from police headquarters.  By the end of it, 29-year-old Gavin Eugene Long had killed three officers and seriously wounded three others.  It was a crime fueled by pure hatred, and Long specifically waited for his 29th birthday to launch the attack…

The shooter who killed three law enforcement officers and wounded three others in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on Sunday was a Missouri man who launched a deadly rampage on his 29th birthday, police sources said.

Gavin Long, who was born on July 17, 1987, was the man who gunned down officers before he was killed in a gunbattle with other officers responding to the shootings.

Two Baton Rouge police officers — ages 41 and 49 — died, said Police Chief Carl Dabadie. The gunman also killed a 45-year-old sheriff’s deputy and critically wounded a 41-year-old deputy who is “fighting for his life,” said East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff Sid Gautreaux.

So what motivated Long to commit this horrible crime?

A Youtube account operated by Gavin Eugene Long and discovered by The Daily Caller reveals key insight into what might have motivated the 29-year-old black man who killed three Baton Rouge police officers Sunday morning.

Videos on Long’s account show that he was a former Nation of Islam member. He also ranted against “crackers” and made references to Alton Sterling, the black man killed by police in Baton Rouge on July 5.

Did Long actually believe that gunning down innocent police officers would honor the memory of Alton Sterling?

Sadly, it appears that there are a lot of other people out there that feel the exact same way that Long did.  In fact, there were a number of people that were openly celebrating the shooting of police officers in Baton Rouge on Twitter and calling for more cops to be killed.

This country is starting to come apart at the seams, and from now on it is going to be very, very dangerous to be a police officer in America.  Perhaps you may not have heard of this yet, but there was actually another plot to kill police officers in Baton Rouge that was foiled ahead of time…

Perhaps you've seen them: roving bands of (mostly) young people, gathering together with smartphones aloft, talking about something called Rattata or Squirtle.

If not, you've probably at least seen the headlines about these folks — players of the massively popular new game "Pokémon Go." The game, which uses geolocation to place virtual Pokémon characters in the real world, has breathed sudden new life into the 20-year-old Pokémon franchise, with some estimates suggesting that the game has been downloaded more than 7 million times in the U.S. since its release on July 6.

Part of its success owes to its deft mixing of the real world and the virtual world. "Pokémon Go" blends a game experience with real physical activity and real, in-person socialization, said Pamela Rutledge, director of the Media Psychology Research Center in Newport Beach, California.

Ultimately, the features that come together in Pokémon Go appeal to real human desires, such as a need for social connection. "It's really ticking the boxes of the major drivers of human behavior," Rutledge said.
