A "heroic" rail worker who tried to stop a knife attacker as he carried
out a mass stabbing on a high-speed train remains in a life-threatening
condition.
A 32-year-old man who was arrested after the 6.25pm
Doncaster to London King's Cross LNER service on Saturday was stopped at
Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, is being treated as the only suspect,
police said.
The man who is from Peterborough, where he boarded
the train, is being held in custody on suspicion of attempted murder,
while another man, 35, who was also arrested has been released with no
further action.
A knife was recovered at the scene after armed police were
deployed to the train and made the arrests within eight minutes of the
999 call.
In total, 11 people were treated in hospital - nine were initially reported as having life-threatening injuries.
Five
casualties have now been discharged and one - a member of LNER rail
staff who tried to stop the attacker - remains in a life-threatening
condition, British Transport Police (BTP) said in a statement on Sunday
evening.
BTP Deputy Chief Constable Stuart Cundy said: "This was a horrific attack that has had a wide impact.
"My
thoughts and those of everyone in British Transport Police are with
those injured and their families - especially the brave member of rail
staff whose family are being supported by specialist officers.
"Having
viewed the CCTV from the train, the actions of the member of rail staff
were nothing short of heroic and undoubtedly saved people's lives."
The train driver hailed as "courageous" for his actions during the stabbings has been named as Andrew Johnson.

For decades now, going back to when Bob Geldoff handed over millions in cash to Meles Zenawi during “We Are the World” circa 1983-4 supposedly for food aid for the victims of what was then the Great Ethiopian Famine, the City of London has been at the heart of Grand Theft Ethiopia, grand theft Africa really.
Without a place to stash your loot, why steal in the first place? If you can’t hide your dirty money where no one can take it from you, why bother? And this is just what the City of London has been doing, laundering billion$, some say tens of billion$, of stolen “aid” money for the late Ethiopian gangster government lead by Meles Zenawi. War, drought, famine followed by more war, drought and famine, The Horn of Africa maybe better called the Horn of Hunger and thanks to the City of London what was supposed to be used to feed the starving, house the homeless, nurture the sick and educate the illiterate was instead deposited in the financial cesspool calling itself a “City,” population seven thousand.

Facial recognition to be rolled out by London police sparking human rights concerns

Millions of people face the prospect of being scanned by police facial recognition technology that has sparked human rights concerns.
The controversial software, which officers use to identify suspects, has been found to be “staggeringly inaccurate”, while campaigners have branded its use a violation of privacy.
But Britain’s largest police force is set to expand a trial across six locations in London over the coming months.
Police leaders claimed officers make the decision to act on potential matches with police records and images that do not spark an alert are immediately deleted.
But last month The Independent revealed the Metropolitan Police’s software was returning “false positives” – images of people who were not on a police database – in 98 per cent of alerts.
The technology, which has previously been used at Notting Hill Carnival and Remembrance Sunday services, was used on thousands of shoppers in Stratford, east London.
Scotland Yard said the Stratford operation would be “overt” and that members of the public passing the cameras would be handed leaflets, but The Independent did not observe any information being proactively given out.

London cyclists too white, male and middle-class, says capital's cycling chief
Comment: More pointless "diversity targets" and disparaging comments about white people that should feel guilty for cycling. Ever thought that maybe a large proportion within ethnic minorities just aren't interested in cycling and a predominance of white, middle class people are? What an outrageous thought.

Westminster 'Car Terror' Attack Raises Questions

Another 'terror attack'. Another outpouring of sympathy, this time 'for London'. Another round of media hypocrisy that willfully ignores the obvious explanation for and solution to these kinds of incidents.
On Wednesday 22nd March, around 2.40pm, we're told that a 'lone wolf', named as 52-year-old Khalid Masood, drove a black SUV along the sidewalk of the 252m-long Westminster bridge, knocking down at least 12 pedestrians and killing two of them. The SUV is about 6 feet wide and the sidewalk about 12 feet wide. There are vehicles on one side and the stone balustrade of the bridge on the other. The SUV was traveling at at least 60mph. So this was a rather difficult, if horrific, feat to carry out.
Leaving the bridge, Masood turned left towards the 'front' of the Houses of Parliament where he mounted the sidewalk and crashed the SUV into railings near the Carriage Gate entrance which is a 'weak spot' guarded by unarmed officers.
Exiting the vehicle, he tried to enter the grounds of the building and was confronted by a police officer whom he stabbed. The attacker was then shot dead by another plain clothes police officer. This was a clear attack on the 'center of power' in the UK that was designed to and succeeded (no doubt) in striking a particular chord with the British political elite.
As is often the case with such attacks in Western nations, news reports released immediately after the attack cited eyewitnesses who claimed there were two people in the car, one described as black with a goatee beard (matching the description of the man shot by police outside Parliament) and the other a white, bald male. But with only one man shot and killed and the official narrative reflecting this, these initial eyewitness reports have been shunted down the memory hole, never to be heard again.

London to get manned checkpoints for first time in 24 years amid MI5 security crack down

The proposals are intended to protect London’s finance district and its skyscrapers from a terrorist attack.
MI5 and counter-terrorism police have proposed to install the manned checkpoints, rising street bollards and crash-proof barricades.
When the IRA bombed the Baltic Exchange in April 1992, three people died and 91 people were injured.
A Corporation of London report said they "had identified that the area was highly sensitive to... a hostile vehicle-borne security threat".
Security across Europe is striving to beat terror in the wake of the Berlin Christmas market terror attack on Monday when Anis Amri ploughed into shoppers, killing 12 and injuring 49 people.

Million Mask march in London
Jason N Parkinson was on the ground in central London to observe the
Million Mask march. London was the biggest of the worldwide chain of
protests. In Parliament Square protesters burned energy bills to oppose
the rising cost of fuel and there were minor clashes with police in riot
gear as demonstrators also gathered near Buckingham Palace, where a
fire was started yards away from its gates. No arrests took place,
according to the Metropolitan police

Occupy London's anger over police 'terrorism' document

Police have angered Occupy London activists after listing the movement among terrorist groups in an advisory notice sent to the business community in the City.
The document issued by City of London police, headed "Terrorism/extremism update for the City of London business community", included a detailed account of recent and upcoming Occupy London activities and was sent to "trusted partners" in the area.
The document, dated 2 December, which was passed on to Occupy London's Finsbury square encampment over the weekend by a local business owner, gave an update on foreign terrorist activities including that of Farc in Columbia, al-Qaida in Pakistan and the outcome of a trial into the Minsk bombing in Belarus.
Below that, a section headed "Domestic" was dedicated wholly to the activities of the Occupy encampments and singled out anti-capitalists as a cause for concern.

This summer's social unrest in Britain was destructive and incoherent but, as our study shows, it was still a form of protest
At the beginning of August, in a fit of collective pathology,
thousands of young people across Britain took to the streets and started
breaking into shops, stealing and confronting the police. What
triggered this is a mystery. But whatever it was, it wasn't politics,
poverty, alienation or despair. That would be making excuses for bad
behaviour and imply a humanity to which the rioters had no right. For
the riots were not the work of mostly disaffected teenagers but a "feral", "uneducated" "underclass" who somehow managed to outwit the police
for the best part of a week using new technology. Venal, entitled and
irresponsible, they adhered to values entirely unfamiliar to the British
political establishment.
Beyond the growth of gang culture and
the demise of individual responsibility, no credible broader
explanations were offered for their behaviour. If the problem had been
rooted in politics and economics, the solution might have resided there
also. But for the government, this was the work of criminals; the only
effective remedy was punishment.
Four months later the absurdity
of the official response to the riots is painfully clear. It took a
while. Given the spontaneous, geographically diverse and inchoate nature
of these disturbances, there was never a credible single cause. Even if
there had been, there were few among the rioters who would have been in
a position to articulate those grievances. The journey from the margins
to the mainstream is a perilous one, which few make intact without
losing their voice.

The moment protesters found a plain-clothes cop in their midst
Considering what the police have been doing here and abroad I think these protesters were extremely restrained.
Usually, it is the police who kettle protesters. The tables were
turned, though, when demonstrators unmasked and surrounded a
plain-clothes officer who had infiltrated their midst during this week's
public sector protests.
The hoodie-wearing interloper was discovered by protesters from the
Occupy movement from St Paul's while they were attempting to take over a
building near Piccadilly Circus in central London on Wednesday.
The incident, which occurred outside the offices of the mining company Xstrata, was captured on video by The Independent (above,
left). Protesters asked the man whether he worked for the Metropolitan
Police. He can be seen in the film nodding and answering: "Yeah, I'm a
Met Police officer, yeah."
At that, one of the group said: "Right,
let's circle him so he can't go anywhere." Protesters duly surrounded
the officer, chanting "shame on you". Within moments the chants turned
to "scum, scum, scum". One protester was heard to say: "He has no
uniform and no [badge] number... we have no way of identifying him, so
how are we supposed to complain about him."
The officer was
allowed to reach the line of uniformed police who were kettling the
protest, and they let him through. Protesters have complained recently
about a perceived increase in the number of plain-clothes or undercover
police officers at protest marches. Videos of people suspected of such a
role have surfaced online, and cards with images of those thought to be
police officers have reportedly been distributed among demonstrators.

Two million join 'historic' strike
A strike by up to two million public sector
workers was hailed as "historic" today - closing schools, courts,
museums and jobcentres, and disrupting transport, hospitals and
Government departments.
Unions reported huge support for the 24-hour walkout in
the bitter row over pensions, but warnings of massive delays at Heathrow
airport failed to materialise, with passengers saying border controls
were "better than usual".
Union officials accused the
Government of "ramping up" possible airport disruption and claimed that
"under-trained" staff had been drafted in to cover striking immigration
and passport workers.
"Some of those on duty today
don't have proper security clearance. They are not qualified to do the
job properly, which is a concern. We will take this up after the
strike ends," said an official from the Public and Commercial Services
(PCS) union.
The PCS said reports from picket lines
showed a "huge" turnout for the strike, with up to 90% of staff in some
Government departments, including Revenue and Customs, taking action.
General
secretary Mark Serwotka said: "I have been to pickets around central
London and spirits are sky-high, with many other unions besides PCS out
on strike.
"People should be very proud of the stand
they are making today, in contrast to the shame of the Government.
Public sector workers have come together today to show their united
opposition to the Government's prolonged and concerted attacks on their
pensions, jobs and communities."

Veterans join Occupy protest as St Paul's canon shows support
Once again the MSM misreporting. The Occupy Movement is not about being "anti-capitalist", it is about anti-corruption and anti-human practices that currently hold all social systems in a psychopathological grip. It about ushering in REAL change. It not concerned with "-isms." It is centered on freedom of the human spirit free from control, free to self-organize and free from government interference. This is just the beginning - if it can rise above forces that could co-opt and redirect such rising awareness.

When members of the Occupy camp join Remembrance Day services at St Paul's Cathedral, their ranks will be swelled by a group of military veterans with their own list of grievances against the establishment.
At least 15 former service personnel have now pitched up outside the cathedral and at nearby Finsbury Square, many in protest over treatment of veterans or the conflicts that have burdened them with mental or physical scars.
Their presence is an indication of the evolving support base of the anti-capitalist Occupy movement, which has been endorsed by a senior figure at St Paul's, just weeks after the protests led to the resignation of three of the cathedral's leading clerics.

The medieval, unaccountable Corporation of London is ripe for protest

It's
the dark heart of Britain, the place where democracy goes to die,
immensely powerful, equally unaccountable. But I doubt that one in 10
British people has any idea of what the Corporation of the City of
London is and how it works. As Nicholas Shaxson explains in his
fascinating book Treasure Islands, the Corporation exists outside many of the laws and democratic controls which govern the rest of the United Kingdom. The City of London is the only part of Britain over which parliament has no authority.
This
is ... an official old boys' network. In one respect at least the
Corporation acts as the superior body: it imposes on the House of
Commons a figure called the remembrancer: an official lobbyist who sits
behind the Speaker's chair and ensures that, whatever our elected
representatives might think, the City's rights and privileges are
protected. The mayor of London's mandate stops at the boundaries of the
Square Mile. The City has exploited this remarkable position to
establish itself as a kind of offshore state, a secrecy jurisdiction
which controls the network of tax havens housed in the UK's crown
dependencies and overseas territories. This autonomous state within our
borders is in a position to launder the ill-gotten cash of oligarchs,
kleptocrats, gangsters and drug barons. It has also made the effective regulation of global finance almost impossible.

Who Started The London Riots?

When state 'security' forces murder a citizen in cold blood in broad daylight, and members of his community vent their anger in the only way they know how, who's to blame for the fallout? The British government and the mainstream media would like us to believe that it's the victim and members of his community. But then, we all know better than to believe the words of government officials and media whores. Or at least we should. In fact, how many times do we need to have cold, hard evidence of government and media lies dropped in our laps before we get the message once and for all?

Father of four, Mark Duggan, was assassinated by London police
Of course, given that the IPCC report amounts to a police investigation of the police itself, we shouldn't be surprised that many questions remain unanswered.
An IPCC ballistics report said there was "no evidence" that a handgun found near where Mark Duggan was shot by armed officers had been used.
The 29-year-old died after a gunshot to the chest on Thursday. The death sparked the first night of rioting in London in Tottenham.
Mr Duggan had been a passenger in a silver Toyota Estima minicab in Ferry Lane, close to Tottenham Hale Tube station, which was believed to have been stopped by police.
His death came after two shots were fired by a Scotland Yard CO19 firearms officer, investigations show.
The initial results confirmed reports that a bullet found lodged in a police radio at the scene was police issue.
For example, if Mark Duggan did not shoot at police, how did a bullet get lodged in one of the policemen's radios? More to the point, how did a police issue bullet get lodged there? And how did this come to be the initial 'evidence' that Duggan fired at police? The gun that the police claim to have found in the taxi that Duggan was travelling in was a 'Bruni BBM', which means it was either an air gun or a blank starter pistol. Interestingly enough, last year, the WestMidlands police issued an amnesty on just this make of gun which previously did not need a license. Assuming their amnesty drive was successful, there are probably quite a few of these guns floating around UK police stations... I'm sure one or two wouldn't be missed.[...]
